FEBRUARY 26, 2009 – This just in….Big3 Records will be setting a firm release date for “Murder by Pride” in the coming weeks. It is scheduled to be released near the end of July, 2009.

On December 21, 2008 Stryper announced that they were giving the fans an opportunity of a lifetime: Design the album cover for the upcoming Stryper album “Murder by Pride”. The deadline for the artwork submission was January, 21 and on February, 9th Stryper announced the contest winner was Gilvan Rangel of Campina Grande, Brazil ! I had the wonderful opportunity to conduct an email interview with with Gilvan Rangel to talk about his artwork and what it was like to win the contest. |
SF) If you don’t mind me asking how old are you?
GR) I’m 22 years old.
SF) Where do you live?
GR) My place is in a simple little city, call Campina Grande, in State Paraíba, Brazil. Co’mon, visite us some day!
SF) How long have you been an artist?
GR) To speak the truth, I am photographer and manager of a photographic studio. I’ve been working with photography for over 10 years now.
SF) Do you have a website that people can see or buy your artwork?
GR) Yes I do! www.gilvanjunior.com.br
SF) How long have you been a Stryper fan?
GR) Since 1991 when the CD Against the Law. But it wasn’t until 1998, when I started to access the Internet, where there has been deepening the research on the band and the pleasure of hearing the sound of the guys!
SF) What was the first Stryper album you bought or heard?
GR) Against The Law, but I love them all!!!
SF) Did you submit more artwork then the one that was selected?
GR) Yes, I sent two arts, but I was sure that exact one would be chosen by Michael Sweet. Things of God, you know?
SF) What was it like finding out that you had won the contest?
GR) Dave, the manager of the band, let me know! I was very happy and it is still a little hard to believe! he he…
SF) Do you know when the album may be released?
GR) I believe it is due out in March or April! But for this, pray for the health of Michael’s wife Kyle.
SF) Do you have anything you would like to say about this whole contest experience?
GR) I would like to say to everyone, you should never give up your dreams, because God is the director and He will give many blessings.
SF) Is there anything you would like to say about Stryper?
GR) They are the bridge that connected my faith with God! I would like to say Thank You very much to the band!
SF) I would like to thank you for taking the time to do this interview and for sharing some of your story with us the fans.
GR) I am honored to have done this it has been a pleasure. For me, Stryper.net is the best forum / portal / fan site of the band. Thank you for this opportunity.

As many of our friends and fans know, Kyle Sweet (Michael’s wife) has been battling cancer for some time now and after recent developments, and with much prayer and consideration, we believe it to be in the best interest of all for Michael to spend time with, and caring for, his wife.
